Hi Guys! Update, and something you may not know about Sacred Heart
Hmmmm…. Just a little update. I’ve been more consistent with my workouts the past several days, and I’m feeling the BURN as a result. Of course, I’m loving every minute of it.
Still haven’t had a binge, so that makes 10 days now. Oh, I came close last night! I was cooking dinner for the family, and I was soooo hungry I had a string cheese. Then my 3 year old didn’t want to finish hers, and instead of just trashing it, I ate the other half of hers. THEN I grabbed a box of cereal from the pantry…. And put it back. :D It’s been a VERY long time since I was able to stop myself in mid-stride with a box of CARB loaded cereal in my hand. (Carbs are definitely my vice, my strongest craving.) So I’m patting myself on the back right now. I had a salad instead, and a bottle of water, and a few bites of the dinner I cooked for my family… because I wasn’t hungry anymore.
Looking back, I really don’t think I was as hungry as I *thought* I was. My sister in law had just called and said she’d be stopping by, and I started stressing about whether my house was clean enough, and that’s when I reached for the snacks. So…. yeah. That was a mini-binge waiting to happen, but it didn’t.
And I’m soooo sore today. I did I don’t know how many crunches and reverse crunches and corkscrew things yesterday. It’s just, I keep saying “I need to work on my core,” and “I hate my belly” but then I stick to cardio and weight circuits like they’re going to magically start solving all my problems. The truth is, I *need* to get in the floor and work my core, I *need* to invest in a good Pilates DVD, I probably *need* to join that gym I keep hearing so much about and take a good Pilates class from someone who knows what they’re doing. LOL So I’m going to start working on that list of things I need to do, step out of my comfort zone a little, instead of plodding along hoping for different results from the same old workouts. (Did I really just say that to myself?? LMAO I’m giving myself some good advice!)
Well, I guess that’s pretty much it for today. Except one other thing: I found out today that the Sacred Heart Diet, which is supposed to have originated from some hospital’s cardiac unit, is not really a dr-formulated or approved diet. It’s just another variation of that old cabbage soup diet.
If I had any idea how to do it, I’d post a link. LOL But you can trust me. If you want to do it anyway, I mean, I’m not one to say one way or the other. I don’t judge: do what you need to do. BUT I just hate that some people do it, thinking it’s a really good, hospital-approved program, and it’s not. It’s basically just the concept we’re all trying to follow, which is eating fewer calories than you burn. There’s no magic soup or combination of foods that will make you drop 10-17 lbs of body fat in a week or ten days or whatever.
So…. Good luck to all my buddies on your weight loss journies. Love you guys, thanks for stopping by!

Good job on stopping yourself
And thanks for the info

Keep up the great work girl
Thanks girl! Stopping myself with that cereal box in my hand gave me a real insight. I was just like, “Do I really want to start this, because if I do, I’m not sure I can stop it.” I mean, I always WANT a bowl of cereal before bed anyway (why is that??!) and if I had one then, it would have been two, then another before bed, and even with mulitgrain cheerios, that adds up to at least 500 extra calories.
And however many hundreds of carbs…. Anyway, hopefully that was just the first time of many more to come.
Yeah, I heard about that before. A soup’s a soup. lol It’s just another fad diet. Those who wish to follow it in BS can do each their own, but I’m not a supporter of those things. They’re just a let down in the end. lol Great job, you’re doing awesome!
Way to go on your self control!!! I have a carb problem too, lol. Generally when I get stressed or fatigued I reach for a chunk of bread or a handful of potato chips. When I can overcome that craving I always give myself a pat on the back and chalk up a victory for willpower. So here are a few pats on the back for you!!! Keep it up!!
And thank you so much for the comment on my blog, you are so sweet!!
FIRST OF ALL, CONGRATU-FREAKING-LATIONS ON ALL YOUR WEIGHT LOSS! I’M SO ENVIOUS!! can i ask how you approached it?
secondly, yes, peanut butter is my devil. a jar of all natural PB and a spoon is my like favorite thing ever. but 1tbsp is between 90 and 100 calories- think how much is in a jar!!! I’d choose that over a decadent slice of cake any day! but I need to detox right now, lol. and it will hopefully make a difference.
Anyway, keep up the AMAZING work! you can do it!!!! and congrats on avoiding the binge. i have to fight that one every day, and for the past 3 weeks where i fell off the wagon, the binges won…
but not anymore! i’m taking control!
Yep, a soups a soup! LMAO Eat a broth-based soup every time you’re hungry, throw in some extra fruits and veggies, and fill up with water and the caffeine buzz you’ll get from black coffee, and it’s no surprise you’re dropping lbs. You’re not eating real food! No, the fruit and veggie parts are good, and the only reason why that diet isn’t deemed as unsafe and is more nutritious than other “soup diets”. The part of that diet that really cracked me up though was when they called burning more calories than you eat “the secret”.
Yeah, they’ve got the inside track there! hehe
Thanks for the back pats!
You guys are awesome! I didn’t realize so many people struggled with the binges and had some of the same problems as me (carb addictions, PB on a spoon, etc LOL) Thanks so much for the encouragement!
AWESOME JOB!!! Way to keep binges at bay! Interesting stuff on the sacred heart diet. I didn’t really know a lot about it, but I def. thought it was doctor recommended.
Well, they really make it sound like it is, and then they go to the trouble to add days where you eat meat, etc… but still, it’s an unsustainable diet. It also seemed weird that they would claim it’s a diet they put heart patients on to lose weight for surgery, but that you can do it as often as you want??! So basically, to me, that reads: crash diet that you can go on if you want to lose a quick 10 lbs. Ok, I guess, if you need to get into a brides-maids dress next weekend, but as far as a lifestyle change, it’s not going to help you on that road much.
Congrats on the 10 binge free days
Im a cereal FREAK so I know putting that cereal back esp after your hand was on the box was not easy…good for you!
Thanks for the inforamtion and congratulations on stoping yourself from binging. You are headed in the right direction!
Bravo and a standing ovation for my girl!! WHOOT WHOOOT!
Oh dang - thank you for the info on the stupid diet. I’m so going to use it to my advantage!
You are the best mama!
BTW, I told Rod that my girl - you said he would die if I ever decide to become a body builder. You should see the look on his face!!! ROFLMAO!!
Thanks for the laugh! You know I would too if it wasn’t for him being against me and muscle. LOL
THANK YOU Nancy! LMAO I swear I’m laughing so HARD right now.
I BET that look on Rod’s face was priceless.
Wish I could have seen it, but I can imagine….
