Still Trying To Conquer My Sweet Tooth
Well, I lost 1.5 lbs last week, which was a big victory! :) I’m so sick of all the up and down, back and forth. If I can just lose consistently-I’d be happy with even 1/2 lb per week!- I’d feel a lot more confident that I’m doing this right. But honestly, I started keeping a journal last month with my weight and measurements, and in one month of working out probably an average of 4x per week and counting calories, I lost a grand total of 1 lb, and GAINED 1/4 of an inch in each of my calves. Granted, those inches are muscle-If I were going to get fat anywhere, trust me, it would be in my belly and/or butt, but they stayed the same. All that walking and jogging has my legs looking pretty darn good, but the belly is still the same.
Mark my words guys, this month, I’m going to be in the floor every freaking day, working on my abs, figuring out how to do Pilates, might even buy one of those Bosu balls I’ve been hearing so much about. But my waist measurement WILL come down this month! I can’t waist any more time… I’m just sick of wasting time.
One of my biggest issues with my weight going up and down is my stupid sweet tooth. It’s almost like I can’t see a cookie without wanting to eat it. What’s up with that? Like there’s a glitch in my brain… when it comes to sugar, my appetite gets stuck on the “on” switch. :( Is it my willpower? Do I just not care enough?? Do I just not hate my flabby belly enough? I believe that conquering my cravings for junk food is the key to taking my fitness to the next level. So I’m just going to take it one day at a time, and be accountable here for what I eat. My goal is to go for one month without disappointing myself, but I’ll just start by focusing on today.
TODAY I will eat only things that make me happy and proud of my choices. TODAY I will work out til I’m satisfied that I’ve worked as hard as I could in the time that I have. TODAY I will take that one small, but oh so important next step towards reaching my goals.

waahoo on the weight loss.. very good..
As for the sweet tooth I have no words of wisdom there. I eat when i feel like I need somthing sweet.. I never go over my calories so think it is okay. But i also got me some sugar free jell-o and that has helped me out so much. It is 60 calories and tasts like chocolate and I feel okay eating it. Have you tried it?
Yep, I have the sugar free pudding AND the sugar free jello that’s only 10 cals. The trouble is, when I *do* come across the really bad-for-me stuff, I have a hard time turning it down. It’s the worst at my parents’ house probably. They know I don’t really buy sweets for my house, and my mom watches my kids for about 2 hrs every afternoon (the time between when I go to work and my husband gets off work), and she feels like they should have some goodies to eat over there. Probably at least 3 of the 5 days I go over there, I stick some kind of junk food into my mouth for no apparent reason, other than it’s there and I want a bite.
Or several bites, whatever the case may be. Don’t know why I do it, but it’s gonna stop! I CAN ignore the ice cream, I CAN open Hershey’s kisses for my kids without popping several into my mouth, etc etc… and I WILL.
Starting TODAY!
I really feel like I have to prove to myself that I *CAN* look at junk food day in and day out and not feel like I just have to have it.
GET THE BOSU!!!!! It’s worth the money! Seriously, it’s versatile.
Great job!
You keep up that positive attitude, and your tummy will cower in fear from you! I have a similar problem with sweets. I think it’s genetic. My dad’s the same way. We can’t just eat one cookie. We eat four. So I have to keep such things as cookies out of my place. It’s just safer that way, lol.
OMG!! I get mine from my dad too! LOL Know what he wanted for Father’s Day? I baked him about 3 dozen cookies, and my brother got him a package of those frozen Snicker’s bars. And we took him out to lunch. Everything revolves around either food or snacks with him. LOL And that’s the other reason they always have those yummy goodies over there.
Nancy– I keep seeing different workouts with that thing on Fit TV, and you’re always giving it props. I really think I need to get one….I did a workout today where I used a ball with every move (push ups with one hand on the ball, crunches while extending the ball from side to side, etc etc and I could REALLY tell a difference in how much my core worked, so I *know* that BOSU would make an even bigger difference. How much are they? (You know, folks are poor right now… LOL)
My biggest downfall is sweets (and soda). I can control my eating with anything else! I feel the same way, that every day this month I am going to be on the floor working out, no matter what!
“You keep up that positive attitude, and your tummy will cower in fear from you!”
Nice quote
Wow I can’t believe what great progress that you have made. I hope that I’m that successful!
If you take it one day at a time, and make sure to focus on your goal you will get there. I will be reminding you daily to get those ab exersices in too.
