Can’t Workout: Depressed and Overeating

I feel like I’m on the road to getting fat again, and I do NOT like it.  I’m sad. Just down.  Can’t do any type of impact workouts; BORING.  Not burning enough calories.  I know I need to cut my cal intake back to like BMR, but it’s so HARD to go from working out hard and eating lots of good food to working out NONE and being hungry all the time.  :(   So of course I’m over eating.  Both out of frustration/stress and hunger.  I just feel like screaming.  It’s NOT FAIR!!!

Okay, tantrum over.  :)  But seriously, I have to get it together SOON or I’m gonna be gaining some serious weight. I feel lost right now…. I need a clear cut path back to my goal!

You need motivation!!!! Here are some quotes that motivate me!

♥ Never give up on a dream just because the length of time it takes to achieve it. The time will pass anyways.

♥ We either make ourselves miserable, or we can make ourselves miserable. The amount of work is the same.

♥ Life isn’t about finding yourself it’s about creating yourself

    ♥ Impatience never commanded success

♥ Instead of giving myself reasons why I can’t. I give myself reasons why I can.

♥ My life tomorrow will be the result of my attitude and choices I make today.

♥ Enthusiasm spells the difference between mediocrity and accomplishment

♥ To guarantee success act as if it were impossible to fail

♥ Anything is possible. It’s your choice whether or not you chose to make it happen

I post daily tips, motivations, and inspirational stories in my blog. You should check them out. It really helps with keeping you going in this weight loss journey!

Hugs!! I hate to see you so down. You’ve come a very long way. Don’t ever forget that. Have you thought about coming up with a plan to maintain? Even if you do still want to lose more weight, maintaining for a while purposely may give you sanity back and give you time to think exactly about what you want your goals to be. I know you are very close to goal (if not there yet?) so maybe taking a step back will help you think about whether those last 5 (or how many ever) pounds are worth the stress.

Thanks ladies! Alicia, a HUGE part of my maintenance plan was exercise! lol Go figure! ;) I had just planned on exercising daily for the rest of my life; it had never occurred to me that I might not be able to do that.

This is just a temporary setback though, and I have to start looking at it that way. I’m sure I can come up with some way to burn some calories while I’m “resting” this foot; I’ll just have to be creative. And truthfully, what’s a few weeks over the course of a lifetime?! I’ll get through this and be back on track eventually… Just have to get back into the right frame of mind.

I wrote this early this morning, when normally I’d have been outside running. :( So I think that intensified the sad feelings. I need to put less effort into feeling sorry for myself and whining, and more effort into finding some no-impact forms of exercise.

You know what I do when I feel like you. I switch my mentality. For example say you are depressed becuase you miss a friend so you would call her right? Same thing if you miss eating a certain salad you go get it right. Now you have to think that you are depressed because you are not working out. Don’t you feel better when you do actually do it. So go in front of the mirror each time you feel depressed say I am depressed because I am not working out, and go WORKOUT! Good luck!

Don’t do what I did and slack for almost 3 months. It’s a hump, try to oversee it and push yourself through it anyway. Because of the exact same feelings you’re feeling right now, I lost almost 3 months where I could have lost another 20 pounds, but I maintained instead. Be positive and can sympathize. Hang in there!

I am sure you know times like this are going to happen. You just have to push yourself to keep going and soon that slump will be over! hang in there hun

    Hey Nancy. :) It’s not that I don’t want to exercise! I DO!! I SOOOO do! I’m injured. :(

It’s depressing. But I’m trying to work through it. I just got finished lifting weights for upper body, and I feel my mood improving already. :) I’m working on focusing on things I *can* do. But still, I am worried about cardio.

I’m not sure about lunges, since you do put quite a bit of your weight on the leg you’re working, but I did some squats yesterday (not many, just testing the waters) and it was ok. I did a little workout on my Wii (I have the Jillian Micheals fitness Ultimatum game) and while it certainly was NOT a run, it got my heart rate up a little and was fun. Most importantly, it helped improve my mood. So things are looking up. :) I’m on the lookout for things I can do without hurting myself, and as soon as I can I’ll be back to my regular intense workouts.

Lady friend, you will find your way. You have come SOOO far and I KNOW you will not give up! Do ANYTHING active that makes you happy! :)

I hope you get your mo back soon! Keep pictures of yourself up, old ones and new. So you can see all your hard work and so you can see where you came from.

If you cant have the junkier foods, have a healthier sub. Something that can still satisfy your sweet tooth!

And know that all of these wonderful buddyslimmers are here for you! You are not alone, and you can do this!

    :)
